Southampton are expected to announce the signing of Stuart Armstrong from Celtic in the next 24 hours.
Sky Sports News understands the fee will be £7m, which could rise to £8m with add-ons.
The 26-year-old central midfielder had his medical on the south coast on Monday and is understood to have agreed personal terms on a four-year contract. He will become Mark Hughes' first signing since taking charge at St Mary's.
Armstrong, who has won six caps for Scotland, joined Celtic from Dundee United in 2015 and helped the club win back-to-back domestic trebles. He had made 145 appearances for the Glasgow club, scoring 28 goals, and signed a new two-year contract last summer.
Southampton finished one place above the relegation zone last season, winning seven of their 38 games.
They begin their 2018/19 Premier League campaign with a home game against Burnley on August 11 before travelling to Everton seven days later.
