Bayern Munich say Brazil defender Dante is leaving the club to join Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg for an undisclosed fee.

The league champions have reached agreement with Wolfsburg on the transfer, pending a medical, after which Dante - who had been linked with both Leicester City and Manchester United - will sign a three-year contract.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said the central defender had asked to be released after losing his place in the starting line-up; Dante made his final appearance for Bayern as a substitute in Saturday's 3-0 win over Leverkusen.

Dante will link up with his former Bayern team-mate at Wolfsburg, his compatriot Luiz Gustavo, who moved to Lower Saxony two years ago.
