Ray Wilkins and Leon Osman feel Antoine Griezmann could be the missing link that Jose Mourinho's been looking for this season

Antoine Griezmann would be as big a signing for Manchester United as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to Leon Osman

Sky sources understand the club are interested in Atletico Madrid's Griezmann but say the club have not agreed personal terms with him.

Sky Bet have the French international at just 4/6 to link up with Jose Mourinho's side - one of four believed to be keen on signing him - in the close season.

Last summer, one of Mourinho's key additions was Ibrahimovic and he scored 28 goals before a knee injury ended his campaign.

Osman thinks Griezmann would make a notable impact if he moved to United and told Premier League Daily: "I think he would be [as big a draw as Ibrahimovic].

"He's consistently scored goals at every level he's played at over the past number of seasons. He's helped Atletico to the titles they've won and he is one of the main people of French football.

"If Manchester United could get him, you've seen the euphoria and how big Paul Pogba became for them.

"Griezmann will score more goals, which is every marketing person's dream. I think he would be a big hit for United.

"When you're signing players for a large amount of money, you're asking will they be able to handle it? Will they be able to step in without missing a beat and still be able to perform at that level?

"Will he be able to take that number seven shirt at Old Trafford, which comes with its own pressure? He seems just the right fit for the shirt. I think it would fit him really well."

Ray Wilkins has also backed the former Real Sociedad forward to be a success if he moves to Old Trafford.

He thinks the 26-year-old could be the difference between struggling to reach the top four as United currently are and challenging for the Premier League title.

Wilkins said: "He would just add that pace. He's one of the smaller strikers about but my word, this guy does know where the goal is.

"He's an exceptional footballer so anyone who gets him will be pushing for the title next year. This guy has scored goals at every level he's played and at the top level as well.

"United have always been used to having centre forwards with pace. I know Ibrahimovic doesn't have it and Wayne Rooney certainly had it when he joined Manchester United.

"But now they've got that pacey attack again and he would add that little bit of quality. Where they've been drawing those games, this guy would be sticking the ball in the back of the net."
