David de Gea is in pole position to win his first Premier League Golden Glove - but can the Manchester United goalkeeper hold off the competition in the final weeks of the season?

The Spaniard has kept 16 clean sheets this season, two more than Manchester City's Ederson and three more than Tottenham's Hugo Lloris and Chelsea's Thibaut Courtois.

Player Club Clean sheets
David De Gea Man Utd 16
Ederson Man City 14
Hugo Lloris Tottenham 13
Thibaut Courtois Chelsea 13
Nick Pope Burnley 10
Petr Cech Arsenal 10

With those four frontrunners having just seven Premier League fixtures remaining, the odds are in De Gea's favour.

He also has the advantage of having kept three clean sheets against his seven remaining opponents already this season. None of the other contenders for the Golden Glove have more than that against the teams they've got left to play.

De Gea will further boost his chances with a shutout against City in the huge Sky Live clash at Old Trafford on Saturday. If he can do that then it will also delay City's title celebrations, while a win to nil for the hosts would give De Gea even more breathing room over Ederson at the top of the goalkeeper standings.

Despite being named in the PFA Team of the Year in four of the past five seasons, De Gea is yet to get his hands on the Golden Glove.

However, he already has the same number of clean sheets recorded by winners in three of the past four years and will be favourite to join Courtois, Petr Cech, Wojciech Szczesny, Joe Hart, Edwin van der Sar and Pepe Reina on the roll of honour.
