Manchester United near a summer deal for a new defender, as we round-up the latest rumours on Tuesday, May 15.

Manchester United are in talks to sign 16-year-old Nottingham Forest left-back Matthew Bondswell, according to the Daily Mail.

Southampton are also reportedly interested in the England youth international, with Forest so far failing to agree terms on a professional deal.

United have also reportedly been following Forest's young winger Alex Mighten.

A report in The Sun suggests United are set to trigger Napoli right-back Elseid Hysaj's £44m release clause.

The 24-year-old has impressed as Napoli pushed for the Serie A title this season, with manager Maurizio Sarri and Napoli president Aurelio Di Laurentiis reportedly arguing over the defender's low release clause.

Manchester United are nearing a deal to sign Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred, according to The Daily Star.
