There will be no return to Newcastle in this window for Jose Enrique

Jose Enrique will spend the rest of the season at Liverpool after a proposed return to Newcastle fell through on Deadline Day, according to Sky sources.

The 30-year-old spent four years at St James' Park before a £5m move to Anfield in August 2011, but has made only 76 league appearances for Liverpool in the four-and-a-half years since.

Newcastle boss Steve McClaren was keen on bringing the full-back to the North East to further boost the Magpies' relegation fight after signing Henri Saivet, Jonjo Shelvey and Andros Townsend for around £29m while landing Seydou Doumbia on loan from CSKA Moscow on Deadline Day.
