Liverpool have confirmed Pepijn Lijnders has returned to take up a role in the club's first-team coaching set-up.
Lijnders left Anfield in January to take on the managerial position at NEC Nijmegen, but returns to Jurgen Klopp's backroom staff in a senior capacity.
Sky Sports News understands that Lijnders' return will have no impact on whether or not Zeljko Buvac will return to his role as assistant manager.
Buvac took a break from first team duties back in April, before the club admitted they were hopeful he would return to the first team fold.
Re-appointed coach Lijnders parted company with NEC just five months after being appointed as the club's head coach, despite guiding the club to a third-place finish in the second-tier Eerste Divisie and an end-of-season playoff spot.
The club lost 5-4 on aggregate to seventh-place Emmen in the second round, before Lijnders subsequently departed the club.
