Arsenal goalkeeper Woijech Szczesny is to rejoin Roma on loan with a view to a permanent deal, according to Sky Italy.

Sources in Italy understand an option to make the move permanent has been agreed for a potential fee of £13.4m.

The 26-year-old Szczesny made 34 Serie A appearances on a season-long loan at Stadio Olimpico last term and the club, who finished third, have been keen for him to stay.

The clubs reportedly held talks over a £15m permanent transfer but a loan with an option has been agreed instead.

Szczesny joined the Gunners from Legia Warsaw as a youngster in 2008 and has since made 180 appearances for the club, winning two FA Cups.

He also became Poland's No.1 during his time at the Emirates Stadium, winning 27 caps, but was ruled out of all but the opening match of Euro 2016 with injury.
