Arsenal's Mesut Ozil says contract extension talks will resume after initial discussions in the summer.

The German is tied down to the club until 2018, and revealed Euro 2016 with Germany halted up those talks initially.

The 27-year-old joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2013, and had his best time in a Gunners shirt in the first half of last season, before reaching the semi-final of Euro 2016 with Germany.

"I have a contract until 2018," Ozil told German publication Express. "We have had discussions, but they were suspended for the European Championship.

"I wanted to focus at this time only on the national team. Now we look to continue the negotiations."

Pressed on his future after Arsenal, Ozil admits that moving to the MLS later in his career could be an option, but that his short-term future at least looks to be at the Emirates.
