All the latest Arsenal transfer news and rumours from across the British and European press on Thursday, July 20.

Arsenal have identified Schalke's Leon Goretzka as they plan a mass midfielder overhaul this summer, reports the Daily Express.

Goretzka, who starred in Germany's Confederations Cup victory this summer, has a year left to run on his contract at the Veltins-Arena.

However, the Gunners have a battle on their hands to prise the 22-year-old away from the Bundesliga, with Schalke adamant they will not let Goretzka go.

The Express also claim Mohamed Elneny has refused the chance to join Leicester in a £10m move.

Egypt international Elneny, who joined the Gunners from Basel in January 2016, started just eight Premier League games last term, underlining what's been a testing first 18 months at the Emirates.

However, the midfielder is understood to love living in London and has no plans to leave the capital, despite the lack of game time.

Jack Wilshere's future continues to dominate the back pages. The midfielder, who has a year left to run on his Gunners contract, is understood to be weighing up his options having been told he can leave Arsenal.

West Ham have emerged as potential suitors for the England international who, according to the Daily Star, the Gunners want £20m for Wilshere and a buy-back option in his contract.

Elsewhere, The Sun claim Arsenal have joined Chelsea, Liverpool and Juventus on the trail of Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller.

After an underwhelming 2016/17 campaign in front of goal, Bayern's capture of James Rodriguez has plunged Muller's future at the Allianz Arena into doubt, although the Bundesliga champions insist he is not for sale.
