David Ospina reveals the Arsenal players have a surprise planned for Arsene Wenger on his farewell

David Ospina has called for “clarity” regarding who will replace Arsene Wenger and reveals that the players have a surprised planned for their departing boss on Sunday.

Wenger will bring the curtain down on 22 years as Arsenal manager at the John Smith's Stadium against Huddersfield.

When asked if the players have anything planned for Wenger in the dressing room, goalkeeper Ospina replied: "It's a surprise.

"We are going to see what happens in that regard. The most important thing obviously is to help him sign off with a win at Huddersfield. It would be very memorable to give him that final victory for his last game. We are going to be giving everything on the pitch to make sure that happens and then we'll see what happens.

Huddersfield manager David Wagner says the club are now free to give Arsene Wenger a fitting farewell after securing their Premier League survival.

"I can only imagine what's going through his mind because he's been at this wonderful institution of a club for the past 22 years.

"It's a club where he's given everything in order to ensure Arsenal progress as a football club therefore I'm sure there will be a lot of feelings going through his mind for his last game. But I just hope we can give him something to shout about for his last game and help him sign off with a win."

Wenger has called on his successor to show the same "honesty, loyalty and commitment" to the club as he has displayed throughout his career. Sky Sports News understands the Arsenal board will appoint Wenger's replacement by the start of the World Cup and Ospina agrees that the club need to get the new man as soon as possible.

He said: "Footballers want clarity and obviously at the moment we don't know whose going to be coming in to take the reins. There is a little bit of uncertainty there amongst the squad, however, we just hope the club does a really good job in terms of bringing the right person in to succeed Wenger."

Arsenal will be looking to earn their first away points in 2018 when they travel to Huddersfield - a run of results Ospina is keen to eradicate on Sunday.

"We're aware of the poor record we've got on the road," he said.

"We know there's been a series of games when we've not picked up any points away from home. Having said that we're just hoping to end on a high to set us up nicely, whether that's for the holiday period or preparing for the World Cup. We just want to finish our job here and then focus on next season."
