The Super Sunday panel discuss whether Arsenal's Francis Coquelin should have been sent off for a second bookable offence at Crystal Palace

Alan Pardew lamented referee Lee Mason for refusing to give Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin a second yellow card at Crystal Palace on Sunday. Is he right?

The Gunners clung on to secure their first victory of the Premier League season at Selhurst Park in the Super Sunday clash, securing a 2-1 success thanks to an acrobatic strike by Olivier Giroud and a Damien Delaney own goal.

However, it could have been very different had French midfielder Coquelin been given his marching orders, following a string of fouls that did not warrant a second yellow card, according to referee Mason.

Alan Pardew believes that Mason had to be "braver" when making the decision and Niall Quinn sympathised with the Palace manager.

"He [Coquelin] was very, very lucky, he [Pardew] has every right to be aggrieved. Even the player himself thought he was gone," Quinn said.

"Not often are you pleased to be substituted but he seemed delighted."
