Everton's Sam Byram approach confirmed by Roberto Martinez

Roberto Martinez has confirmed that Everton have made an approach for Leeds United defender Sam Byram.
According to Sky sources, the clubs are already in talks about the 22-year-old moving to Goodison Park, although Everton boss Martinez has suggested there is still some work to do before a transfer can take place.
Martinez said at his press conference on Friday morning: "As you can imagine there has been an approach. That's where the confirmation came from Leeds United, but there is nothing else to comment on.
"At the moment you have to be very, very careful. I don't enjoy the window clashing with important games; Leeds United have very important games, we have got a very important game and at the moment there is nothing else to comment on in that situation.
"There has been an initial approach - an initial step - but from there to having conclusive news for our fans is a long gap still.
"We don't do things by being quick or panicky. If there is any signing to be made it needs to be the right character, it needs to be the right addition, and that will always be the case.
"In any process there will be initial steps and some processes become very long. The only thing that matters to us at the moment is the game on Saturday against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and whenever we have got something to announce to our fans we will do that straight away."
Byram is out of contract at Elland Road at the end of the season and will provide cover for injured right-back Seamus Coleman if he does move to Everton.
Coleman is expected to be out for another three weeks with a calf strain sustained in last week's Capital One Cup semi-final first-leg victory over Manchester City.
John Stones filled in at right-back in Wednesday's Premier League goalless draw with City, but ideally Martinez wants him operating in the centre of their defence.
Byram came through Leeds United's academy and has made over 140 appearances for the club in four seasons after making his debut in 2012.
