Everton pair Darron Gibson and Bryan Oviedo look set to be reunited with David Moyes at Sunderland.

The pair are to have medicals at Sunderland ahead of completing permanent moves.

Moyes is signing them for a second time, having brought them to Goodison Park when he was in charge at Everton.

Both men have struggled to make an impact on new boss Ronald Koeman this season, with Gibson featuring just once - in the EFL Cup - and Oviedo seven times.

On Monday afternoon Moyes said: "It's going well. Hopefully in the next hour or two we'll be able to confirm but they're not done yet."

Costa Rica international Oviedo has made 44 appearances for Everton since joining them from FC Copenhagen for £5m in 2012.

He would be a direct replacement for defender Patrick van Aarnholt, who has been sold to Crystal Palace.

Midfielder Gibson has made just 54 appearances since moving to Goodison Park from Manchester United in 2012, with a series of injuries restricting his appearances.

The Black Cats have also expressed an interest in Leicester striker Leonardo Ulloa, although it is understood their initial £3m offer was rejected out of hand.
