Reading's latest signing Anssi Jaakkola is keen to become the club's No 1 goalkeeper after joining on a two-year deal.
The Royals completed a deal for Jaakkola for an undisclosed fee on Monday, with the 29-year-old joining from South African side Ajax Cape Town, where he spent the last three years.
Jaakkola has joined his new team-mates at their pre-season training camp in Holland and is targeting a starting role ahead of the new Championship campaign.
"It feels great, it's nice to be back in Europe and back in the UK," Jaakkola told the club's official website. "I'm just excited and eager to get back to work.
"I know Ali (Al-Habsi) and I have seen him playing for Wigan in the Premier League. He's a great goalkeeper and I'm just trying my best to push him, push myself and fight for the number one jersey."
Jaakkola has previously played for Scottish side Kilmarnock, as well as Siena and Slavia Prague, and has made one appearance for the Finland national team.
