Sky sources reported on August 19 that Marseille and Tottenham had finally reached a renewed agreement over the swap deal after one of the most protracted transfer sagas of the summer.

The deal has been complicated by wholesale ownership and personnel changes at Marseille, who announced on Monday that a deal had been agreed for former Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt to become their new owner.

Several other clubs have also been interested in loaning N'Jie, such as his former club Lyon and Nice, after he made only eight Premier League appearances in his first season with the club due to injury.

It is understood Spurs still have high hopes for the player and expect him to rediscover his form with regular first-team games for Marseille in Ligue 1.
