Heung-min Son says Tottenham taking it one game at a time

Heung-min Son says Tottenham are taking a game-by-game approach in a bid to end the season with silverware.

Mauricio Pochettino's side are still in with a chance of winning three trophies this season as they prepare to travel to bottom-of-the-table Sunderland in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

Spurs arrive on Wearside third in the table, nine points behind leaders Chelsea, while they are also still in the FA Cup - where they face Fulham at Craven Cottage in the fifth round - and the last 32 of the Europa League.

However, Son says he and his team-mates are only focused on their fixture at the Stadium of Light, rather than long-term goals for the season.

In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, Son said: "We just try to take every competition seriously, that is very important.

"In the league we have been doing very well until now, we just have to look forward game to game, this is so important. And then the Europa League starts again soon and the FA Cup we take seriously too.

"It was very important to get through to the next round (of the FA Cup), I was really happy to get through to the next round, but that has now passed and now we look forward to Sunderland."

Son also had praise for Pochettino, who has transformed the north London club into possible title contenders since his arrival from Southampton in the summer of 2014.

"Every young player wants to go one step or two step more for him," Son added. "When I see the training session I see that everyone is hungry, I can see in everyone's eyes that they are on fire, and that makes me really motivated in training and to play under him.

"Everyone is like family and we try to help each other. If someone is going through a bad time, then we try to push him, make him in a good mood and confident."

The South Korea international had been on the verge of leaving White Hart Lane for Wolfsburg last summer, only to change his mind after a late conversation with Pochettino.

The 24-year-old, who has scored 11 goals in 27 games in all competitions this season, says he is happy with life at Tottenham.

"I am enjoying it really much, it is an amazing experience from my one-and-a-half years here playing Premier League, Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup, and I am really happy to stay here now," Son said.

"This was my dream to play in the Premier League. As a kid, so many times I watched the Premier League and that was my dream and I am really happy with my family.

"We have a great squad, which is a special thing, everyone plays for each other and we have so many great players in the squad, which makes us even stronger.

"I am good friends with everyone in the squad, but I am really good friends with Kevin Wimmer because he speaks German together with me. He is such a nice guy and a great player and I really enjoy playing together with him, he is a great person."

Son was on target twice in Spurs' dramatic 4-3 win over Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup on Saturday and says he is currently in a confident frame of mind ahead of the trip to take on the Black Cats.

"I have a really great feeling and sometimes it is difficult to say, but I am confident to score," he said.

"On Saturday I scored goals and was confident to stay on the pitch to show my performance."
