After scoring an own goal against Wigan on Saturday, Blackburn defender Shane Duffy followed it up with two against Cardiff and also received a red card!

It has been a few days to forget for Blackburn's Shane Duffy, who has scored three own goals and been sent off in just two games.

The defender has had a series of misfortunes on the football field since the end of last season, but the first three games of the new term at Rovers have been particularly turbulent.

Duffy featured in the Sky Bet Championship opener against Norwich as Blackburn suffer a 4-1 home thrashing, before being beaten 3-0 by newcomers Wigan with the centre-back bundling home an own goal.

But it was Tuesday evening's 2-1 loss to Cardiff that truly epitomised his recent downward spiral as he scored both of the Bluebirds' goals - putting the ball into his own net - before seeing red in the final minute.

This is added to his sending off at Euro 2016 for the Republic of Ireland, where the defender saw a straight red card for a foul on Antoine Griezmann, and reports that he has turned down a new deal from Blackburn this week.
