Blackburn have signed Sheffield Wednesday forward Lucas Joao on loan, with the option of a permanent deal in the summer.

The 23-year-old joins Rovers until the end of the season. Joao - who has played twice for Portugal - has scored one goal in his 12 appearances for Wednesday this season, the most recent of which came in the 3-0 defeat to Middlesbrough in the third round of the FA Cup on January 8.

That rules him out of Blackburn's fifth-round tie with Manchester United, but he has been signed in time to play against Leeds United in Wednesday's Championship clash.
