Gabriel Agbonlahor could be set to leave Aston Villa with Remi Garde saying he expects some fringe players to move on in the January transfer window.

It is believed the players who could be offloaded include club captain Agbonlahor, Charles N'Zogbia, Libor Kozak and Philippe Senderos.

Agbonlahor is the longest-serving member of the squad but has found opportunities limited since Garde arrived at Villa Park in November.

Garde said: "For sure there are some players here who are not playing for a long time and I think it is not very healthy for the group, for themselves first because as a player you want to play first-team football.

"I can understand that they are frustrated, that they are not happy about their situation and we'll have to find a solution. I can't tell you exactly how many players but there are a few."

Remi Garde believes Villa will need at least 10 wins if they are to avoid relegation

Villa, who are 10 points from safety at the bottom of the Premier League, host West Ham on Boxing Day and Garde said the squad will train on Christmas morning before spending the rest of the day with their families.

He said: "They will train in the morning and stay with families. They are adults, I'm okay for them to spend some Christmas time with family - you can find strength. Then the day after they can say, 'I had some lovely time now I want to win'.

"When you are low in confidence like we have been, it is difficult to take the game [from the off].

"Where we are situated, with nothing to lose, you forget you have no confidence, then play on. Starting from beginning we need more confidence, more sparks.

"It is winnable, like every home game, but West Ham are very solid. They don't conceded any goals, the good news is they didn't score but they're a tough team."
