Aston Villa's French defender Aly Cissokho arrived in Greece on Sunday to finalise his loan move to Olympiakos.

The 29-year-old is expected to spend the remainder of the season on loan with the Greek champions with a purchase option for Olympiakos thereafter.

"I am very happy and proud to be here on behalf of Olympikos. There are still some typical details to be completed, such as medical tests. Once they are completed, I can celebrate my transfer to Olympiakos," Cissokho said.

Cissokho has 18 months to run on the deal he signed when Paul Lambert brought him to Villa Park in 2014.

He began the season as Villa’s first-choice left back under Roberto Di Matteo but he has fallen behind Jordan Amavi in the pecking order under Steve Bruce.

Villa loaned Cissokho, who has one French cap, to Porto last season but he played just twice.

Besides Aston Villa, he has also played for Liverpool, Valencia, Lyon, Vitoria Setubal and Gueugnon.
