Newcastle are close to signing Atletico Madrid full-back Guilherme Siqueira on loan, according to Sky sources.
The 29-year-old Brazilian left-back, whose previous clubs include Udinese and Benfica, is set to join until the end of the season.
Siqueira was a regular in the Atletico defence last season but has started just once in La Liga this term following Filipe Luis' return from Chelsea.
His arrival would provide competition for Newcastle's current left-back Paul Dummett, who has nailed down the position with Massadio Haidara out injured.
Sky sources also say Newcastle have enquired about the possibility of signing Roma striker Seydou Doumbia on loan.
Ivory Coast international Doumbia, 28, joined Roma from CSKA Moscow a year ago but has since returned to the Russian club on loan.
