Norwich winger Jacob Murphy is in Dublin having a medical with Newcastle.

The England U21 international flew on Monday night to Ireland where Newcastle are holding a week-long training camp, having been in Germany for pre-season training with Norwich.

The two clubs have agreed a deal in the region of £12m, according to Sky sources.

Personal terms have also been settled, and Rafa Benitez told Sky Sports News HQ: "He's a young player with pace, mobility and hunger.

"All the information we have is that he's someone who was very, very keen to come here and fight to show his level."

Captain Jamaal Lascelles said: "He's a good player, definitely what we need. He's got some legs on him - he's quick and he's got a lot of flair as well.

"I've played against him a few times, but I've met him properly now and he seems like a really nice guy as well."

Sky sources reported last week that Norwich had rejected an £8m offer and that Murphy's representatives subsequently met with club officials to try to push the move through.

Murphy, 22, has been one of Newcastle's main targets this summer. He played for England U21s at the recent European Championships in Poland and helped them reach the semi-finals.

If the deal goes through, he will be Newcastle's fifth signing ahead of their return to the Premier League.
