Newcastle forward Siem de Jong is in talks over a return to former club Ajax, Sky sources understand.
The 28-year-old Netherlands international has endured an injury-plagued spell at Newcastle since moving to Tyneside from Ajax in 2014.
De Jong picked up a thigh injury before suffering a collapsed lung, sidelining him for the majority of his first season in England.
He made 23 appearances in all competitions for Newcastle the following season, scoring once and contributing one assist.
De Jong, whose youth career began at De Graafschap prior to joining Ajax, spent last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven. He scored six goals in 19 league appearances for PSV.
Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has added to his attacking options over the summer with the signing of wingers Christian Atsu and Jacob Murphy from Chelsea and Norwich respectively, as well as the addition of striker Joselu from Stoke.
Newcastle have lost their first two Premier League matches of the season and host West Ham on Saturday.
