Sunderland - who have lost injured first-choice goalkeeper Vito Mannone for three months - were prepared to pay a large slice of his wages, but Manchester City have agreed to Hart's preferred option.

Hart, 29, lost his place as City's first-choice 'keeper at the start of the season, with new boss Pep Guardiola preferring Willy Caballero.

Hart's agent Jonathan Barnett was quoted on Monday by www.tuttosport.com as saying: "Yes, Joe Hart will play with Torino. It's done. The player said yes to the club and also Manchester City have given the green light. It is all true. Tomorrow [Tuesday] Hart will have a medical in Turin."
