Joe Hart surprised members of the media at his unveiling for Torino Football Club by speaking Italian.
Hart, who joined Torino on a season-long loan on Transfer Deadline Day, opened the presentation by speaking in the language of his new adopted country.
"Hello everyone. Thank you all for coming to my presentation," he said.
"I am studying Italian. Today I am preparing to talk with my players, Me, you, left, right, pass, carry, give, leave - it's going well.
"Thank you to our dear president, thank you to all and excuse me if I respond [now] in English."
The 29-year-old was given a round of applause by the assembled media for his efforts. He then spoke in English for the rest of the press conference and thanked everyone for the welcome he has received at the Serie A club.
"Everyone has welcomed me exceptionally well: from the President to the coach to the medical staff who work for the club," he said.
Hart made his debut for Torino on Sunday, but the England goalkeeper will be eager to put that performance behind him, as he made a blunder to gift Atalanta's Andrea Masiello an equaliser.
