Rudy Gestede passes Middlesbrough medical ahead of £6m move from Aston Villa

Rudy Gestede has passed a medical at Middlesbrough ahead of his move from Aston Villa.

The clubs agreed a £6m fee for Gestede over the weekend, and the Benin striker came through a medical examination on Teesside on Tuesday evening.

He will be announced as Boro's first January signing on Wednesday on what is understood to be a three-and-a-half-year deal.

Villa bought Gestede, 28, from Blackburn Rovers in July 2015 for a fee of £6m.

He has made 19 appearances for the Sky Bet Championship side so far this season, scoring four goals.
