Aden Flint is undergoing a medical at Middlesbrough after a fee was agreed with Bristol City, according to Sky sources.
Sky Sports News understands the Championship side have agreed a fee in the region of £7m with Bristol City.
Bristol City turned down a £6m bid from Brighton for the centre-back in the January transfer window.
Birmingham City were interested in signing the 28-year-old last August but were put off by Bristol City's £10m valuation.
Despite playing in defence, Flint has established himself as a good goalscorer, scoring 36 goals in 202 league games for the Robins, including 15 in 2014/15 when they were promoted from Sky Bet League One.
Sunderland midfielder Paddy McNair has also agreed personal terms and completed a medical with Middlesbrough ahead of a proposed move, Sky Sports News understands.
