Fulham have rejected a transfer request from Ross McCormack, Sky sources understand.

The 29-year-old striker is the subject of serious interest from Middlesbrough, who are understood to have had two bids rejected for him in the winter transfer window.

McCormack did not play in Fulham's last Championship game - a 1-0 home defeat to Hull - due to illness, according to head coach Slavisa Jokanovic.

He was pictured watching the game from the stands, and Jokanovic insisted after the game that he had no interest in selling the club's best players this month.

McCormack is the clubs top scorer with 17 goals in all competitions, and he and fellow strike partner Moussa Dembele have notched 24 Championship goals between them.

But Sky sources claimed on Wednesday that Fulham are prepared to sell Dembele following talks with Tottenham.

McCormack signed a deal in the summer which keeps him at Craven Cottage until 2019, but Dembele's contract is up in the summer and he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs.
