Hull duo Alex Bruce and James Weir make Wigan loan switch

Hull duo Alex Bruce and James Weir have both joined Sky Bet Championship side Wigan on loan for the remainder of the season.

Centre-back Bruce, whose previous clubs include Leeds, Ipswich and Birmingham, joined Hull in 2012 when his father, Steve, was manager.

He missed the first half of the campaign after undergoing surgery on an Achilles problem in the summer and heads to Wigan in search of much-needed game time as he bids to return to full fitness.

Midfielder Weir joined Hull from Manchester United last summer for an undisclosed fee and will also be looking to get some minutes under his belt at the DW Stadium.

He has made three first-team appearances for Hull - all of which came in the EFL Cup - and the move to Wigan sees him join up again with Warren Joyce, his former academy boss at United.
