Sheffield United's manager Chris Wilder almost drops the League One trophy during celebrations

Chris Wilder and the Sky Bet League One trophy had lucky escapes during Sheffield United's open-top bus tour on Wednesday.

Sky Sports News HQ was in attendance as Wilder and the rest of the Blades squad toured Sheffield city centre in front of their adoring fans.

But one piece of footage we missed, captured by Windmill Media, was Wilder almost dropping the trophy off the front of the bus and nearly coming a cropper himself.

All had been going well until the 49-year-old former Oxford and Northampton manager lost his footing on the top deck of the bus.

The trophy looked destined to land on the road below but Wilder somehow managed to execute a perfect catch and keep hold of the valuable silverware before springing back to his feet amid raucous laughter from his players.

Celebrations went on for some hours after the near accident and they will continue for some days to come with the squad set to head for a post-season break in Las Vegas on Friday.
