Watford have signed Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong on loan for the rest of the season.

The Gabon international completed a medical with the Premier League side on Wednesday, who have an obligation to sign Ndong on a permanent deal if "certain criteria are met."

Sunderland broke their transfer record in 2016 to sign Ndong from French club Lorient for £13.5m, and he went on to make 31 Premier League appearances last season.

He becomes the third signing since Javi Gracia took over as manager, following on from Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu and Anderlecht midfielder Dodi Lukebakio.

There have also been two departures from Vicarage Road, with Isaac Success joining Malaga on loan for the rest of the season and goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon signing for Nottingham Forest, also on loan.
