Birmingham City have completed the signing of former Nottingham Forest midfielder Robert Tesche on a three-year deal.

Tesche, 29, spent part of the 2014-15 season on loan at St Andrews and made a positive impact in scoring two goals in 12 Sky Bet Championship games.

The Blues were keen to sign him last summer but he returned to Forest and made a further 25 appearances in a season that was disrupted by an opening day foot injury.

He was released by Forest at the end of last season and will officially join up with Birmingham on July 1.

Tesche, who played for Arminia Bielefeld, Hamburg and Fortuna Dusseldorf in his homeland of Germany, becomes Gary Rowett's first signing of the summer.

"I'm very happy to be back at Birmingham. It was a nice time here last time, so I'm happy to sign a new deal," Tesche told Birmingham's website. "It was an easy decision for me, but it was a long wait.

"Birmingham wanted to sign me but I was not allowed to go (by Nottingham Forest). But now I've given the chance again, so I wanted to sign.

"When I was here last time I had a good relationship with Gary Rowett. He knows what I can do, how I play and knows what my best position is.

"I hope that I will have some good years in Birmingham. I want to stay fit and help the Club get to the next level. That's my first target."
