QPR midfielder Sandro is due to have a medical at West Brom on Friday.
The Baggies are hoping to agree personal terms on a loan move - with a view to a permanent deal - and get him registered before midday to make him eligible for Saturday's FA Cup fourth round tie against Peterborough.
The Brazilian arrived in the Premier League when Tottenham signed him from Internacional in 2010 for £6m. He made 106 appearances for Spurs before moving to QPR for £6m in September 2014.
Boss Tony Pulis told Friday's news conference: "We're interested in Sandro but nothing's been done yet so that's ongoing.
"Whether we can do a deal or not we'll have to wait and see. We're working on it if we can get a deal done we'll get a deal done."
An injury-plagued spell at White Hart Lane was followed by further injury problems following his switch to west London, and he has made just 28 appearances for Rangers, 11 coming this season.
His last game for Rangers was the 1-1 draw with Huddersfield on 28 December.
