West Brom's bid to sign West Ham's Diafra Sakho falls through

Diafra Sakho missed West Ham's 3-3 draw with Arsenal through injury

West Brom’s move for West Ham striker Diafra Sakho has fallen through, according to Sky sources.

We reported earlier this week that the clubs had agreed a fee in the region of £16m for the Senegal international, who was hampered by injury last season but impressed during the 2014/15 campaign.

However, we understand that Sakho will not be fully fit for the start of the season and West Brom have therefore decided not to pursue the deal.

It has been suggested that the 26-year-old failed his medical but we understand that is not the case.

Sakho handed in a transfer request in July after Sunderland had a £11m bid turned down by West Ham and he subsequently refused to join the rest of the Hammers squad on their pre-season tour of Austria.

The fact that Sakho will not be joining West Brom could have an impact on the future of in-demand Baggies forward Saido Berahino.

We are reporting that the 22-year-old has been the subject of bids from Crystal Palace and Stoke, and it was thought a decision on his future would be made once the Sakho transfer was completed.
