West Brom manager Tony Pulis has called for more video technology to help referees.

West Brom head coach Tony Pulis has called for video technology to be introduced in the Premier League, arguing that managers should get a review in each half.

Video technology could be trialled in next season's FA Cup from the third round onwards via a video assistant referee (VAR) system.

The VAR, similar to a Television Match Official (TMO) in rugby union, will be permitted to assist match referees when there are clear-cut decisions in four separate situations: for irregularities in the case of a goal decision, penalty calls, red card offences unnoticed by the referee, and in cases of mistaken identity over a yellow or red card.

Former Premier League referee and technical director for the International Football Association Board (IFAB) David Elleray called the decision "historic" but Pulis thinks a challenge system may be the way forward.

"Refs in this country if they make mistakes they're honest mistakes," said Pulis in his Friday press conference ahead of Arsenal visiting The Hawthorns on Saturday, live on Sky Sports.

"Everyone in life makes mistakes.

"On video technology, I've always said managers should have a call in every half on the big decisions.

"There has to be a mechanism to help refs. Big decisions are the ones we debate more than anything."

On Thursday, West Brom midfielder Jake Livermore earned a call-up to Gareth Southgate's England squad for the upcoming games against Germany and Lithuania.

Should he feature in either match, Livermore will become the first outfield West Brom player to represent England since Steve Hunt in 1984.

"Jake Livermore's call-up is brilliant," Pulis said. "I hope he can push on now and get a real identity about his game.

"He's got all the tools to be a very good player. His call-up is good for everyone. The lad, his family, the players and the club.

"It's been a long time since we've had a player in the full international squad."
