Stoke City have announced the signing of defender Josh Tymon on a five-year deal.

The 18-year-old left back reluctantly released by Hull City earlier on Wednesday after turning down a professional contract with the Tigers.

Tymon, who made five Premier League appearances last season (four starts), has been capped by England at U17, U18 and U20 level and is regarded as a future senior international by senior figures at Hull.

Speaking after Tymon's release, Hull vice-chairman Ehab Allam said: "I believe he will one day be a full England international and I take pride in the work the club has done to make that possible.

"This also makes it even more difficult to take having invested so heavily in his development through the excellent academy set-up we have. We had hoped that Josh would remain with us to realise his potential."
