Mark Davies to undergo medical at Sheffield Wednesday

Bolton Wanderers midfielder Mark Davies is due to have a medical with Sheffield Wednesday on Thursday, according to Sky sources.

Davies did not feature for Bolton in their 3-2 defeat to Wednesday at Hillsborough on Tuesday after a deal was struck between the clubs. 

If Davies passes his medical and agrees terms over a move, he will become Wednesday's second signing of the January transfer window following the permanent arrival of defender Jack Hunt from Crystal Palace.

Bolton are currently fighting against being placed into administration having been served with a winding-up petition by HMRC. 

Their winding-up petition is set to be heard on Monday and they will be placed into administration if they fail to agree a takeover or sell more of their assets, with promising young forward Zack Clough also in talks over a £3m move to Bristol City. 

If Bolton - currently bottom of the Sky Bet Championship - do go into administration, they will be hit with a 12-point penalty.
