Cardiff have completed a deal to sign Allan McGregor on loan from Hull City for the remainder of the season.
Sky sources had indicated Hull's new head coach Marco Silva was prepared to let McGregor leave, with Eldin Jakupovic the first choice for the goalkeeper position and David Marshall the preferred back-up.
McGregor, who has 35 caps for Scotland, has been with Hull since 2013 after joining from Turkish side Besiktas.
The 34-year-old will link up with his Cardiff team-mates ahead of their Sky Bet Championship home clash against Burton Albion on Saturday and will claim the vacant No 1 jersey at the club.
Cardiff manager Neil Warnock was keen to bring in competition for Ben Amos and Brian Murphy with his side having managed just two clean sheets in 14 league fixtures under his stewardship.
Meanwhile, Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has told Cardiff to get "serious" if they want to bring in Jonny Hayes from the Scottish club this transfer window.
Aberdeen have already rejected a reported £500,000 bid from the Sky Bet Championship club for the Republic of Ireland international.
