Hull City manager Steve Bruce has dismissed reports linking defender Andrew Robertson with a move to Derby County.

The Daily Record claimed the Rams were preparing a £7m bid for the Scotland international left-back, but Bruce says he is unaware of any approach.

He also insists he would not allow the 21-year-old, who joined Hull from Dundee United for £2.85m in July 2014, to move to a Sky Bet Championship promotion rival even if he was contemplating selling the player.

Bruce said: "As far as I am concerned I don't know where that's come from. Would I really contemplate selling him to Derby? I don't think so.

"He's a smashing young player, who is still learning his trade, but I can't see us wanting to sell one of our better players to Derby.

"I can certainly quash that one. Even if they got to double that figure I don't think we would be selling - why would we want to break anything up now?

"We want to try and improve the squad if we can, not disband it."

Derby were also linked with Tigers midfielder Tom Huddlestone earlier in the week and this provoked a similar response from Bruce.

One player who has left Hull is 21-year-old midfielder Matty Dixon who has joined York City on an 18-month contract.
