Hull are close to signing defender Ondrej Mazuch from Sparta Prague, according to Sky sources.

The 28-year-old Czech Republic centre-back has been on trial with Hull during their pre-season training camp in Portugal and played in their 1-0 friendly win over Benfica on Saturday.

Mazuch has been at Sparta on a free transfer in 2015 after being released by Dnipro in Ukraine, but he has made only 18 league appearances for the Czech side.

He did impress for Sparta in seven appearances in the Europa League last season, however.

Mazuch began his career with FC Zbrojovka Brno in his home country before a switch to Fiorentina in 2007. He then joined Anderlecht three years later following an initial loan spell.
