Hull City's Ryan Mason hopeful of resuming playing career

Hull City midfielder Ryan Mason remains hopeful of resuming his playing career after recent scans showed his fractured skull is healing well.

Mason was forced to undergo brain surgery after a nasty clash of heads with Chelsea's Gary Cahill seven months ago.

The 26-year-old former Tottenham player was told by some specialists that he may have to retire.

Ryan Mason opened up to Geoff Shreeves in May about his horrific injury and admits he thought about quitting playing

But sources close to the player have told Sky Sports News there is no need for further surgery and the bone is healing naturally.

Mason, who was kept in an induced coma after his surgery at St Mary's Hospital in London, returned to light training with Hull this summer with a view to working his way back towards a competitive comeback.
