Bristol City have announced the signing of Preston defender Bailey Wright for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old Australia international has signed a two-and-a half-year contract at Ashton Gate and goes straight into Lee Johnson's squad for Saturday's FA Cup third-round tie against Fleetwood.
Wright, who moved to England to join Preston in 2010, featured in over 200 league games for North End having played for several academy sides in his homeland.
Johnson told the club's website: "Bailey has a warrior spirit and represents a good signing for us.
"He's 24 and has great Championship experience; he's a tough, Australian international - he's an old-fashioned stopper."
Wright, who went to the 2014 World Cup with the Socceroos, is City's third signing of the January window following on from the acquisitions of forward Milan Djuric and midfielder Jens Hegeler earlier in the week.
