Former Leeds United boss Steve Evans has rejected a managerial position at Oldham Athletic.
Evans had been strongly linked with the position after John Sheridan left Oldham for Sky Bet League Two club Notts County.
However, on Tuesday, Evans turned down the opportunity to take over the Latics, who finished 17th in League One last season.
"The club can confirm that after conducting extensive negotiations with Steve Evans and agreeing terms, he has decided not to become the new manager of Oldham Athletic," said a statement on the club's website.
"Mr Evans feels unable to commit to the opportunity as he has other offers in the pipeline and this did not meet with Oldham Athletic's deadline.
"We will now focus on our alternative candidates for the role with an announcement as soon as practically possible."
A spokesperson for the Latics told the Oldham Chronicle on Monday that an announcement about the club's new manager was expected within 24 to 48 hours.
The 53-year-old Evans parted company with Leeds at the end of May after seven months at the club.
Owner Massimo Cellino announced both Evans and his assistant Paul Raynor were to leave Leeds after weeks of speculation about their future.
Evans became the seventh manager to leave Elland Road in two years.
On Cellino, Evans said: "First and foremost, I've always believed that if you're a club owner, chairman or president, you have the final say."
"You are duty bound to everyone at the football club, including the supporters, to put the best man in the chair for the job.
"Everyone has feelings and it was hard to sit there and accept but when you work for Leeds United, you realise the sheer size of the football club and the supporters who are wonderful people."
