Chesterfield have sacked manager Dean Saunders following a 4-0 home defeat to Swindon Town on Saturday.
Saunders was only appointed as Paul Cook's successor in May, but has been relieved of his duties following four successive defeats which has left Chesterfield just four points above the League One relegation zone.
Chesterfield chairman Dave Allen told the club's official website: "We will not be rushed into making a decision on a new manager."
A club statement also confirmed an interim management team will be placed in control of first-team affairs until a new permanent manager is appointed.
Saunders lost 13 of his 23 matches in charge of Chesterfield and leaves the club in 16th place in League One.
