Rotherham United have appointed Neil Warnock as their manager on a deal until the end of the season.

Neil Redfearn was sacked as Millers boss on Monday after he could only guide the club to one victory in eight matches as they tumbled into the Sky Bet Championship relegation zone.

Nicky Eaden was subsequently named as caretaker manager but the south Yorkshire club have moved quickly to have a permanent manager in place before Saturday's game with Birmingham at the New York Stadium.

Warnock's most recent role in football was caretaker manager of QPR prior to the arrival of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink at Loftus Road.

The 67-year-old, who played for the Millers from 1969-1971, now lives in Cornwall and has taken on the role until the end of the current campaign.
