The SFA has confirmed the Excelsior Stadium will host the Scottish Cup fifth-round match between East Kilbride and Celtic on Sunday February 7.

East Kilbride's 500-capacity K-Park Training Academy was deemed unsuitable for the game from an early stage, with the SFA suggesting Hamilton's New Douglas Park would host the match.

The Accies subsequently released a statement on Monday saying they had other commitments and could not stage the game, which will instead take place at the home of Scottish League One side Airdrieonians.

Kilby secured their place in the fifth-round of the competition after defeating Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale, while the Hoops advanced after they won 3-0 away to Stranraer in the last round.

There appeared to be more confusion over the selection of Airdrie's stadium as well, with the Excelsior Stadium having also been booked for February 7 for a charity match to raise money for SIMBA, a charity which boasts Kris Commons' wife Lisa Hague as an ambassador.

But the Sofia Chapman Cup's organiser, Robert Chapman, explained to Sky Sports that East Kilbride had stepped in to offer K-Park for the match instead.

He said: "I'm disappointed that our charity match has now been moved because of the East Kilbride v Celtic Scottish Cup match. I understand why the stadium was chosen but me and my partner have had the booking made since December 2015 and paid a deposit for this.

"I have been in touch with Excelsior but this was after hearing the news through social media and other outlets. They have offered to move the match but we have had a lot of work to get the game on for February 7 so we wanted to keep this date.

"I feel the offer of thousands to be made from the Scottish Cup tie rather than a hundreds from us to play a charity match was the driving factor in the choice.

"After this, some amazing news that East Kilbride have offered us K Park and, with some of their fans looking to come along, this has picked us up. We now have the chance to make even more money for a great charity that have been a great help to me and my partner during a difficult time.

"Thank you to everyone for there messages of support for the game, We have hopefully a few ex-pros playing and look to have a good day raising money for an amazing charity."
