Sky Sports News HQ understand Prince Buaben's proposed move from Hearts to Ross County is now officially off.

The midfielder has apparently failed to agree personal terms with last season's League Cup winners.

Hearts were willing to let the Ghana international, who has two years left on his contract, move to the Highlands for free.

Both Hibernian and Aberdeen are now showing an interest in Buaben, but Hearts may be reluctant to allow the player to leave for either club.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has repeatedly stated his desire to bring in a central midfielder before the deadline, as he looks to offer the main challenge to Celtic again this season.

In other news, Ross County have terminated the contract of Chris Robertson by mutual consent.

The defender joined in 2015, and made 21 league appearances for the club.
