Aberdeen are set to sign Birmingham City forward Greg Stewart on a season-long loan.

The deal, which could be completed as early as Tuesday, would take the 27-year-old to Pittodrie ahead of their opening game in Europa League qualifying.

Stewart moved down to England last summer, joining Birmingham from Dundee, and he made a total of 22 appearances in his first season with the Sky Bet Championship club.

But he now appears set to move back north, with Derek McInnes beating off competition from a host of other Scottish Premiership sides to secure Stewart's signature.

Stewart would boost Aberdeen's options out wide with the Dons having already lost Jonny Hayes and Niall McGinn from his squad this summer.
