Brendan Rodgers says the talent of new Celtic signing Kouassi Eboue excites him in the same way Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling did at Liverpool.

Eboue has joined Celtic at their winter training camp in Dubai and his deal will be formally announced once the appropriate work permit formalities are completed in Scotland.

Some eyebrows were raised at the acquisition of another midfielder when Celtic have a surfeit of options in that area but Rodgers is convinced the new arrival from Krasnodar has real star quality.

He told the Evening Times: "He is one of those young players I look at with the same feeling I had as when I saw a young Coutinho or a young Sterling. Within 10 seconds you see his talent.
